This is an initiative to provide useful information to residents that want to better understand the building and to contribute their input or experience to living here. The author is a flat owner for over 20 years and seeks transparency from the managing agent and the management company and the freehold to make urgent building repairs and to reduce building disrepair.
The rules governing the responsibilities for building management are set out in the RICS residential management code of practice. The author seeks each of the responsible persons to accept the best practices set out in this code.
The fire safety matters are paramount for any building and the rules are also explained in the FSO 2005 (fire safety order). The building safety act of 2022 sets out the means for addressing the liability for fire safety defects.
The Renters Reform Bill / Leasehold Reform Bill of 2024 is now law and provides futher protections for residents living in flats
